Unique Visitors (UV) is the number of different people who visited a site in a given period, without counting returns by the same person. It is a concept close to Unique User and often used interchangeably. You have to bear in mind the same limitation: the measurement rests on the device and cookies, so it is an approximation of the real number of people, not an exact figure.
